KILIMBring the globe-trotting feeling home.Imperfections inspired by the Japanese trendDark TonesIn keeping with the earthen connection, blackened wood surfaces are making a comeback. The emphasis is on destressing all the way. Creating well-coordinated and savvy home interiors becomes easy once you have a clear idea of your personal creative direction. Black and white marble motifs are going to be visible in carpets, wall covering and furnishing fabric design. Gilded layering on painted surfaces will also be a trend with brass and silver metallic returning as a favourite next year..Dark rich hues add extra depth to your homeMarble MotifsMarble is transcending from being a material to a design pattern. For a more splashy and playful choice in colour, Pantone has predicted vibrant yellow and lemon popsicle in their scheme to bring out the smiles in people. On ‘gastric cancer awareness month’, we learn about the disease from Dr Shekhar Patil, Senior Consulting Medical Oncologist at HCG Hospital, Bangalore. Can gastric cancer be cured?Patients diagnosed in the early stages have a much higher survival rate as compared to the late-stage stomach cancer. The triad of anemia, anorexia and abdominal pain in the elderly (those older than 60 years) could also indicate a possible case of stomach cancer and should be investigated further. What are the various treatment options available for gastric cancer?Depending on the stage of stomach cancer, your doctor and medical team will help you choose the most suitable treatment from a range of options such as surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy or targeted therapy. These environmental factors include smoking, tobacco chewing and heavy drinking.Could you throw some light of the methods of diagnosing gastric cancer? An upper GI endoscopy combined with a microscopic examination of stomach tissue is used to diagnose and confirm the presence of stomach cancer. This must also be managed as a part of treatment strategies. These observations are however not specific to stomach cancer and could also be the result of a stomach ulcer or infection. Advanced stages of stomach cancer usually require a combination of different modalities of treatments. Avoiding these factors can reduce the risk of stomach cancer.Could you explain what gastric cancer is?Cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth, where abnormal or mutated cells divide and invade normal healthy tissue. How is stomach cancer caused and can it be prevented?Stomach cancer, and in fact most cancers, are the result of a combination of environmental factors and genetic predisposition. Some patients also observe blood in the stool. It is important to understand that both the stomach cancer and its treatment, particularly stomach surgery, affect a person’s eating habits and dietary preferences. In addition, the availability of many new chemotherapeutic drugs and targeted treatments for this disease has enabled most patients, PP Stool even with advanced disease, to lead a good quality of life. Your oncologist and nutritionist will also recommend changes in diet, such as eating 6-8 smaller meals that are easier to digest. The next step is to determine at what stage the cancer is, which is found from an endoscopic ultrasound, or imaging tests such as X-rays, CT, PET or MRI scan. When detected in its earliest stage (stage 0 and I), the cancer is limited to the inner lining of the stomach and can be fully treated by surgery alone. So patients who experience symptoms as mentioned above must consult a qualified doctor at the earliest to diagnose the problem. When cells begin to uncontrollably multiply in the inner lining of the stomach, they eventually grow into a tumor, resulting in stomach cancer. Some patients are also recommended nutritional supplements (vitamin B12, iron, folate or calcium) if the stomach is unable to absorb these from food. What are the symptoms that patients must look out for and get help if they persist?Commonly reported signs and symptoms include poor appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain, buildup of fluid in the stomach, heartburn, indigestion, nausea and vomiting (with or without blood). How can patients manage the symptoms of gastric cancer to meet their daily nutritional needs? To ensure that you meet your nutritional requirements, master the art of portion control ادامه مطلب

“Other gastrointestinal tract lesions can also bleed - like stomach cancer, or benign conditions like ulcer, abnormal blood vessels, etc. “I would not advocate its use to screen for risk of other diseases. The study wasn’t a controlled experiment designed to prove whether or how blood in the stool might hasten death from colon cancer or other causes.Still, researchers speculate that inflammation might contribute to bleeding in the gut as well as the development of certain cancers and other chronic diseases of advanced age like Alzheimer’s.“For colorectal cancer, we believe the cancer itself bleeds, and some pre-cancers can bleed as well,” Ladabaum said by email. Not only were these individuals almost eight times more likely to die of colon cancer than people with negative results, they were also 58 percent more likely to die of other causes during the study. They were 50 to 74 years old when they joined the study, and they were ABS folding toilet stool followed from the date of their first test until death or the end of March 2016, whichever came first. A positive FOBT result was associated with an increased risk of dying from respiratory, digestive, blood, hormone and neuropsychological diseases, as well as other types of cancer, researchers report in Gut.Researchers examined data on 133,921 adults in Scotland who got screened for colon cancer using what’s known as a fecal occult blood test (FOBT).”“But we simply do not understand the mechanism linking hidden blood in stool to non-colorectal cancer death risk,” Ladabaum added.A screening test for colon cancer that looks for “invisible” blood in stool may also predict a heightened risk of premature death from other causes, a recent study suggests. Some previous research has linked blood in the stool to a shortened life expectancy, even when people didn’t have colon cancer, but results have been mixed and these studies often didn’t account for other underlying medical conditions and medications that might cause internal bleeding. Until this connection becomes clearer, there’s no need for patients to consider FOBT for purposes other than colorectal cancer screening, Ladabaum advised.Men, older adults, and low-income people were more likely to have positive FOBT results, the study found.“Having blood in stool may be an early warning for a number of diseases, and could indicate the need for lifestyle change,” senior study author Robert Steele of the University of Dundee in Scotland said by email.Inflammation is just a guess, however, and other explanations may also be possible, said Dr.All of the participants in the current study had FOBT between 2000 and 2016.People with prescriptions for aspirin or other drugs that boost the risk of digestive tract bleeding were also more likely to have a positive test result.”.In the study, 2,714 people, or two percent, had positive FOBT results. When these tests are positive for blood in the stool, it can signal cancer, but it doesn’t always mean people have tumors. But any uncooked meat or fish can give rise to parasitic infections. Keeping a tab on these symptoms could be helpful, explains nutritionist Tripti Gupta.”Though there are many anti-parasital drugs available over the counter to cure the infection, certain basic steps can help in the long run, reveals Tripti. In summers, the moisture and humidity levels give an impetus to the parasites, ” warns nutritionist Niti Desai.”Occasional indulgence with such foodstuff works, but frequent eating of it can cause worms we may not be aware of. “Sushi is in the limelight because it’s popular. “Salt and vinegar are the best natural disinfectants,” she says. “To avoid these infections, make sure to cook beyond boiling the meat,” he says.Dr Amol Wagh, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeon at J.”Sushi, and other raw meat and fish aren’t the only culprits.J. Cooking is the best option available. “For frequent eaters, it’s a good idea to combine a strong shot of lime juice with cayenne pepper and pink salt, post their indulgence, followed by an oil infused tea. “Soak your foods in a bowl full of salt and vinegar for at least one hour, and then rinse with drinking water. What one could assume is mere acidity or mild stomach pain, could actually be a severe parasitic infection. Raw veggies and salads are also dangerous. A recent study has revealed that eating sushi could lead to a rise in parasitic infections, leading to doctors highlighting the less than appetising issue. “Cleaning the meat is important, but it doesn’t necessarily prevent the infection. If you are picking cold, uncut meat, make sure the person is wearing gloves, and proper cycle of refrigeration is maintained,” cautions Niti. The larvae of these parasites live in the moisture, and are not visible to the naked eye. Foods that can be heated, like mushroom, and meats, can be boiled in hot water with salt. It helps to buy foodstuff from a clean location. “Most times one may end up blaming the ache and bloating on acidity or food intolerance.. Hospital emphasises on the importance of cooking. “Dysentery, vomiting, giddiness, stomach ache, loss of energy, headache, poky and foul smelling stool, and unstable appetite can be the most common symptoms of a parasitic infection,” she says. For example, lemon grass infused green tea with a drop of extra virgin coconut oil and cloves helps,” says Tripti. But parasitic infections are going undiagnosed. Further, one can add a few drops of cold-pressed coconut oil and dry spices such as black pepper and cloves to kill any form of parasite that may be alive in the food. Raw food is an ideal breeding ground for parasites, and when consumed uncooked, the chances of an infection increase. “Lettuce leaves, roadside dahi, lassi, root vegetables like beet, potato, yam, sweet potato and toilet stools Factory wild mushrooms can also cause an infection if not washed properly. The humble, delectable sushi, which had off late become a healthy addition to the diet, can now be a cause of concern. The infection on the rise is called anisakias, and is caused by consuming raw and contaminated seafood.Prepared using raw fish or meat, whether you buy it at a restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine, or pick meat from a supermarket, the health value of sushi is in rapid decline ادامه مطلب

I have said that if we induct women into combat role, they will have to share equal responsibility like their male counterparts because equal opportunity must come with equal responsibility. Noting that women are present in combat arms of the Army like the Corps of Signals, Engineers and the Army Air Defence wing, except on the frontlines, Gen. We have informed the plastic foot tub for sale authority, soon some solution would be found out," said the district collector of Damoh. The sole reason or the culprit of the misery in this district which is about 250 kilometers away from state capital Bhopal is acute water crisis in the area. The story is similar at Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh town where villagers have to toil several kilometers to fetch drinking water. The schemes launched by both the Central and the State governments have failed to reach them.In Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon village, around 70 km from state capital Raipur, villagers walk 5-6 km daily to fetch drinking water as acute water crisis hits many districts of the state as borewells dry up due to increase in temperature. Taking cognizance of the issue, the district collector said they have informed the matter to the higher authority, but are yet to receive any help from them. This time, we did not even have that," said the warden of the hostel. With buckets in their hands, the girls of the district travel the distance with their school teacher and other staff workers. Why should we do this for the villagers, I wondered? But it was only later after interacting with them that I realised that if we don’t, then who will?” Pritam says. The volunteers also held a farmers’ market at the village recently where fruits and vegetables from Karvale were brought to Mumbai and were sold. Others still had to go to the nearby hills and jungles for their daily ablutions,” he shares. So we started with creating awareness about literacy by building a community centre and distributing reading and writing material to the youth through our volunteering initiative. The villagers don’t have as many facilities as we do and it is our responsibility to bridge foldable toilet stool that divide and do things from our end. College, Churchgate, accompanied his NSS team to construct toilets in a village, did he realise that actual learning comes from outside textbooks. Initially, I was very sceptical about the whole activity. The students, in an initiative to bridge rural-urban gap initiated the process of development at a grass-root level. There were about 100 houses and only people who were well-to-do had toilets inside their houses. Profits were then shared with the village community. The kids who have now officially inaugurated the toilets for use are on cloud nine seeing their hard work pay off. The mason in the village taught us the art and we even painted them,” Pritam shares. “I’ve an OCD with cleanliness and I had my share of doubts about how I would manage to construct a toilet but when I reached there, I felt grateful for whatever things I have in my life. “We have been visiting them every Sunday for almost six months now. Anything that we have — be it skill, knowledge or any form of help should be shared,” Simran asserts. “I now know how to construct a toilet and it’s a proud feeling. Just like her comrade, Simran Bijwani had her set of apprehensions about visiting a remote area with little comfort.C.It was only when 19-year-old Pritam Maji, a first-year computer science student of K. “The whole experience was very heart-warming. Pritam shares, “It was a task to break the ice initially because for them, we were a bunch of city kids who did not know much about their lifestyle.A team of 300 volunteers then decided to take charge of the situation and have successfully built 67 toilets for them.”After having established trust among the villagers through their projects, the volunteers then decided to aim at providing better sanitation facilities to the them. There were times when we got so engrossed in the construction that we had to skip lunch and the villagers were sweet enough to walk in and make sure we ate,” says Simran. “When we reached there, the sanitation levels were very poor. As urban youth, we tend to take a lot of things for granted. The teenager along with 300 NSS volunteers from the college adopted a village Karvale in Palghar district of Maharashtra.. The team has managed to construct over 67 toilets for the villagers since ادامه مطلب
